A GOOD BRITISH 1857 PATTERN ROYAL ENGINEERS SWORD,
circa 1880, with 32 3/4in. slightly curved spear-point Wilkinson style blade (some slight staining), etched with arabesques and marked 'ENGINEER, RAILWAY, TRANSPORT' and 'VOLUNTEERS' inlet proofmark at forte, the reverse signed 'LECKEY BROWNE & CO., 143 REGENT ST, LONDON W.', brass half-basket hilt pierced with acanthus leaf decoration (strong amount of gilding remaining), wire bound sharkskin grip and chequered backstrap and pommel, complete with its brass dress scabbard
